Plains crocodile
Article Abstract:
The population of Venezuela's Orinoco crocodiles is decreasing to the point of near-extinction. A group of researchers has completed a census on the crocodiles and implemented a headstart program. This program involves collecting eggs, hatching the crocodiles, and then releasing them into the Capanaparo River after four years. The program has released 600 of these reptiles into the Capanaparo national park since 1991 in an effort designed to save this rare species.
