Predicting minimum habitat characteristics for the Indiana bat in the Champlain valley
Article Abstract:
The partitioned Mahalanobis [D.sup. 2] methods were applied to determine the minimum habitat requirements and detect possible habitat for the species throughout the same area of Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) maternity colonies and foraging areas in the Champlain Valley of Vermont and New York, USA. Fourteen home ranges in regions of varied, patchy land cover types closer to the water with east-facing aspects were documented.

Fine-scale genetic structure and social organization in female white-tailed deer
Article Abstract:
Spatial and genetic structure in white-tailed deer are examined using radiocollared and hunter or vehicle-killed on a 7,000-ha portion of the Savannah River Site in the upper Coastal Plain of South Carolina, USA. Results question the universal applicability of recently proposed models of spatial and genetic structuring in white-tailed deer, particularly in areas with differing harvest histories.
