Production of heparin-binding angiogenic factor(s) by bovine corpora lutea during pregnancy
Article Abstract:
The effects of angiogenic factors from bovine corpora lutea (CL) on endothelial cell mitosis and migration were evaluated. Corpora lutea from gestating cows were incubated in different media to extract the angiogenic factor. The media culled from CL, obtained from different stages of pregnancy, enhanced endothelial cell division and migration. Analysis of the CL extract revealed that the endothelial mitogen binds heparin, promotes fibroblast growth and that it is secreted throughout pregnancy. The actual physiological activity of the factor is unknown.

Accelerated lambing using exogenous progesterone and the ram effect
Article Abstract:
The method of using controlled internal drug-release device type G (CIDR-G) on ewes before the sudden introduction of of rams was studied, to determine its effect on breeding intervals and lambing. Effect of re-application of CIDR-G to induce second lambing was also assessed. Statistical comparison of the results shown by the animals in the experimental and the control group indicated that CIDR-G in association with the ram effect reduces interval between subsequent lambings.
