Crystal structure of T4 endonuclease VII resolving a Holliday junction
Article Abstract:
The crystal structure of an inactive phage T4 endonuclease VII (endo VII) (N62D) complexed with an immobile four-way junction with alternating arm lengths of 10 and 14 base pairs is analyzed. The similar overall shape and surface charge potential of the Holliday junction resolvases endo VII indicate a conserved biding mode for Holliday junctions, despite having different folds, active site composition and DNA sequence preference.

Ribonuclease E is a 5'-end'dependent endonuclease
Article Abstract:
Messenger RNA degradation allows cells to regulate mRNA levels in response to environmental changes. Ribonuclease (RNase) E is found in the degradosome multi-enzyme complex, and initiates mRNA degradation in Escherichia coli. Covalently closed circular derivatives of the rpsT mRNA encoding ribosomal protein S20 was prepared. It was found that the derivatives are more resistant to cleave by RNase E in vitro, than linear molecules.

An endonuclease at last
Article Abstract:
Cell death is usually subtly orchestrated, with disassembly causing minimum disruption to surrounding tissue. Shigekazu Nagata's group has presented disassembly mechanism during apoptosis of chromatin, a complex biological molecule. The chromatin was found to be cleaved by a nuclease activated solely in apoptosis.
