Ruling makes it harder to convict dig thieves
Article Abstract:
Archaeologists in the US fear that a ruling by a court in California will make it harder to obtain prosecutions under the Archaeological Resources Protection Act of people who loot from or damage archaeological sites. Prosecutors must now prove that a defendant knew that a looted item was an archaeological resource.
