Metropolitan-Bakersfield HCP
Article Abstract:
The Metropolitan-Bakersfield Habitat Conservation Plan (MBHCP) has been implemented after many years of joint planning by the Fish and Wildlife Service, California Department of Fish and Game, city of Bakersfield, and Kern County. The plan permits the city and county to regulate conservation and urban development activities within the parameters of the general development plan for the area while easing the impact on four animal species. These animals, the kit fox, kangaroo rat, blunt-nosed lizard along with several cactus species will be protected in habitats purchased by the MBHCP.
