Article Abstract:
Academic research has its high and lows, but there is always some comfort in knowing that the laws of nature underlying your work are likely to be fixed, just waiting to be revealed. The rules under which the teams operate alter from season to season, motivated by a desire to keep car speeds within safe limits while making the cars unpredictable enough to keep drivers- and-spectators- on their toes.

Designer enzymes
Article Abstract:
Researchers have used in vitro artificial selection process in order to isolate new protein enzymes that might join the ends of two RNA molecules together. Designing a selection process that includes ground-state interactions and transition-state interactions might produced much better-designed enzymes.
