Selective attention enhances the auditory 40-Hz transient response in humans
Article Abstract:
An examination of the effect of selective attention on the auditory gamma-band (40 hertz) transient response shows that there is a physiological correlate of selective attention in the 40-Hz transient response in human beings. The experimental subjects listened to tone pips presented in one ear and ignored a concurrent sequence of tone pips in the other ear. The response to sound in the frequency of 40 hertz was greater when the subjects paid attention to stimuli.

Alzheimer's response
Article Abstract:
T. Kruck's comments regarding neuritic plaque cores from Alzheimer victims' brains are inaccurate. The findings did not concern the composition of neurofibrillary tangles. No attempt was made to correlate neuritic plates with severity of dementia. Kruck does not understand the physics of the particle-induced X-ray emission technique. An investigation of how aluminum enters brain tissue in connection with Alzheimer's disease is called for.
