Ontogeny of orientation flight in the honeybee revealed by harmonic radar
Article Abstract:
Harmonic radar was used to show a striking ontogeny to honeybee orientation flights. Orientation flights give honeybees opportunities to observe hive and landscape features from differing viewpoints, indicating that they learn the local landscape in a progressive way. The changes in orientation flight are shown to be linked to the number of previous flights rather than chronological age.

Reversal of honeybee behavioural rhythms
Article Abstract:
Research shows that honeybees can respond to certain conditions by reversing their behavioural rhythms. By reverting to arrhythmic behaviours, bees are shown to have chronobiological plasticity

Selective neuroanatomical plasticity and division of labour in the honeybee
Article Abstract:
Changes in complex honeybee behavior coincide with brain structure changes, particularly the reorganization of the mushroom bodies linked to sensory integration and learning. As worker bees become nurses and then foragers the mushroom bodies develop greater neuropil volume and less Kenyon cell volume. These changes correlate more to the activities the bee undertakes than to its age. It is not known whether the changes result from the different activities or vice versa.
