Sirt1 promotes fat mobilization in white adipocytes by repressing PPAR-gamma
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to show that the mammalian SIR2 orthologue, Sirt1 activates a critical component of calorie restriction in mammals, fat mobilization in white adipocytes. Upon food withdrawal Sirt1 protein binds to and represses genes controlled by the fat regulator peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) including genes mediating fat storage.

Phosphoinositide signalling links O-GlcNAc transferase to insulin resistance
Article Abstract:
The impact of the phosphoinositide signalling of the O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) on the insulin resistance and insulin signal transduction is discussed. The hematic overexpression of OGT is found to lead to insulin resistance, as well as dyslipidaemia with the impairment of the expression of insulin-responsive genes.
