Orientation of migratory birds: time-associated relearning of celestial cues
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the use of celestial cues and the earth's geomagnetic field by migratory birds for navigation. The relearning of the celestial compass when celestial and geomagnetic cues do not tally is discussed.

Staying in plastic containers interferes with the orientation of clock-shifted homing pigeons
Article Abstract:
The ability of pigeons to use the sun compass appears to be affected by staying in plastic containers, compared with pigeons which have been transported in wooden containers. The pigeons underwent a clock-shift of six hours. Plastic containers do not appear to affect birds that have not been clock-shifted. Homing performance is not affected, so the impact of plastic containers appears to be temporary. Pigeons can become used to plastic containers, which have less of an impact after the second time they are used.
