Temperatures in the Earth's core from melting-point measurements of iron at high static pressures
Article Abstract:
Melting-point measurements of iron at high static pressures were conducted to estimate temperatures in the core of the earth. Extrapolation of the results from 2 Mbar pressure to 3 Mbar yielded a temperature of 4,850 +/- 200 degrees Kelvin at the boundary of the inner core. On the other hand, the outer core was found to have a temperature of 850 degrees Kelvin. From this value, core-mantle boundary measurements were also estimated.

Carbon solubility in olivine and the mode of carbon storage in the earth's mantle
Article Abstract:
The measurements of carbon solubility in olivine, the major constituent of the upper mantle, at pressures up to 3.5 Gpa are reported. The measurements imply that most carbon must be present as a separate phase in the deeper parts of the upper mantle, probably as carbonate phase.

High-pressure polymorphs of olivine and the 660-km seismic discontinuity
Article Abstract:
Research examining diamond-anvil laser-heated cell seismic measurements to verify the stability of the Mg2SiO4 in the seismic activity of the Earth's mantle is presented. Particular attention is given to thermal pressure accuracy.
