The Iron Creek incident
Article Abstract:
The conflict on March 8, 1995 between officials of the US Fish and Wildlife Service and rancher Eugene Hussey was due to the public's opposition to the release of wolves in Iron Creek, Lemhi County, Idaho. The conflict started when officials tried to search the area for empty shells of the bullets that killed a wolf in Jan 1995. A congressional hearing was held on the incident which brought to light the conflict between residents and federal officials. Many ranchers and loggers are opposed to the release of wolves as this might prevent them from using the land.
