The carbon game
Article Abstract:
The Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement that aims to reduce greenhouse-gas levels, allows in part, companies to buy and sell equivalents of carbon dioxide emissions, a trade which is steadily increasing. But some researches and politicians are skeptical that a global scheme will likewise reduce emissions, rather than simply shifting pollution around, as they feel that the price of carbon credits may be too cheap, and the future reliability of plans to generate credits may be suspect.

Role of state climatologist comes under scrutiny
Article Abstract:
The U.S. state climatologists are dismissed because of their personal views that human activity is causing global warming. The American Association of State Climatologists (AASC) has urged the state governors to consider the factors most important for the successful state climate office, instead of sacking its climatologists.

Caught between shores
Article Abstract:
Many ecologists take up industrial contracts to try to minimize the damage caused but in doing so, they walk a delicate line between those who want to save the natural world and those who want to exploit its resources. Conflicts often arise between their interests as researchers and those of the companies they work for.
