The party gene
Article Abstract:
Benner and his team reconstructed the original gene that is duplicated to give rise to ADH1 and ADH2 ( two alcohol dehydrogenases). From a database of the sequences of related ADH genes in various yeasts combined with additional ADH genes specially sequenced for the study, the researchers assembled an evolutionary tree of yeast ADH which showed where the ancestral gene is fitted in and helped the researchers to work out its most likely amino acid sequence.

The rough with the smooth
Article Abstract:
An experiment was conducted under controlled conditions in a wind tunnel and were able to maintain laminar flow along a wall for longer by deliberately making its surface rough and expected that surface roughness would create disturbances that lead to turbulent flow. The result showed that by careful controlling the disturbances created by the surface roughness, they could make the flow over a body surface more resistant to a certain type of instability.
