Nicholas Negroponte's, head of the non-profit One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Foundation, OLPC scheme is facing serious problems and competition, with prices per laptop rising from $100 to $175. The OLPC will be irrelevant to poor countries without proper support, maintenance and management, as these countries have other public spending priorities.
