Verification procedures for the Chemical Weapons Convention should be open to members of the public besides those in industry and government. The controlling international group will be the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, while the British group will be the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Britain could add to the DTI membership from outside scientists and academics, to improve public participation.

Climate deal agreed in Bali showdown
Article Abstract:
The delegates of an international meet on climate change in Nusa Dua, Indonesia decided on a 'Bali roadmap', a new international guidelines for discussions on climate change until the end of 2009. The representatives of developing countries severely criticized U.S. for its stand on the climate issues.

The United States has announced that it is unlikely to support the international treaty banning biological weapons. In particular the US is objecting to the strenghthening of the verification regime and is therefore jeopardizing multilateral arms control treaties.
