Southern Connecticut is abounding with wildlife, including barn owls, horned owls, golden eagles, gulls, marsh hawks, crows, blue jays, hummingbirds, turkeys, Canada geese, mallards, herons, Maine coon cats, beavers, lynx, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, and opossums.

Examples of people killed by hunters when mistaken for deer, horses, turkeys, and other animals are given. Gun owners and hunter's rights groups have long lobbied for fewer restrictions, but signs point to a gradual change in public opinion.

Can we make "humane" one of the H-words?
Article Abstract:
The 4-H Club trains children and youth to raise animals for food. Members learn how to care for animals so that in the end they might be killed for the marketplace. Respect and care for animals for their own sake are not taught.
