Winter severity and wolf predation on a formerly wolf-free elk herd
Article Abstract:
Research shows that red deer populations in Yellowstone National Park are more affected by winter severity than the species' unfamiliarity with wolves as a predator. Studies were conducted between 1997 and 1998, two to three years after the reintroduction of wolves to the park.

Winter prey selection and estimation of wolf kill rates in Yellowstone National Park, 1995-2000
Article Abstract:
A study on the rate of killing and recovery of wolves is done. Approximate number of wolfs killed are lesser in early winter compared to late winter.
