Young peridotitic diamonds from the Mir kimberlite pipe
Article Abstract:
Trace element compositions in garnet inclusions of peridotitic diamonds from the Mir kimberlite pipe in Siberia were examined to evaluate the use of mineral inclusions in kimberlite, which are of explosive volcanic origin, to obtain a geochemical record of the continental lithosphere. The results show heterogeneous distribution of trace elements in garnet inclusions, indicating rapid crystal growth causing solid-melt disequilibrium. The results indicate that peridotitic diamonds and their inclusions came from ancient lithospheric material but crystallized shortly before the kimberlite erupted 360 million years ago.

Diamonds at the K/T boundary
Article Abstract:
The carbon-isotope ratios found in nanometer-sized diamonds from the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary indicate that the diamonds came from space and hence may have been part of the meteorite widely thought to have struck the Earth at that time. New analysis of the isotope ratios disproves the idea terrestrial shock metamorphism produced the diamonds. Furthermore, the diamond's presence suggests that the object was a comet rather than an asteroid.

History of trace gases in presolar diamonds inferred from ion-implantation experiments
Article Abstract:
Research on diamond grains formed prior to the Solar System is examined in detail, and shows that ion implantation can be used to capture noble gases.
