After a million man-hours, Ford cranks out the first hybrid SUV

An average American automaker takes about three years to produce a new car but it took five years and 100 engineers for Ford to successfully install a hybrid drivetrain in an existing vehicle, the Escape SUV. The new car uses a technology that combines an efficient gasoline engine with two electric motors.
