Article Abstract:
Two minivans, the Saturn Relay and the Buick Terraza were unveiled at the Detroit show by GM in 2004, which use the same roof stamping but have a stretched and raised nose in front. The new vans would feature a power of 200 horsepower, 215 pound feet of torque spinning a four-speed automatic and weight of about 3500 pounds.

Automobile makers are again trying engines that burn leaner, with lower fuel to air ratios, for fuel efficiency. A primer on lean-burn and related emissions problems is followed by descriptions of Honda, Toyota, and Mitsubishi engines and other companies' prototypes.
