Article Abstract:
The Survey on the Quality of Financial Planning Advice (February 2003), conducted by the Australian Consumers' Association (ACA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) gave rise to plenty of discussions on the financial planning. The debate centers around the fact that many accountants provide financial advice and also sell products that requires strict regulation of the independence definition under the Financial Services Reform Act (FSRA).

CPA Australia is actively monitoring the CLERP 9 draft legislation and consulting with the government via submissions and in direction discussions with the government officials. The draft legislation is fundamentally a principles-based approach to corporate reform.
