The regulatory structure governing financial companies is changing in Australia. The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), which was established to help integrate regulatory focus on the financial sector, is at the forefront of this effort. One of the first issues that were addressed by APRA was the prudential supervision of conglomerates.

Melbourne Motor Show drives millennial road
Article Abstract:
Automobile manufacturers introduced their new products at the 1999 International Motor Show held in Melbourne, Australia. One of the themes at the show was the retro look that emphasized designs from the past. Other manufacturers have developed cars that sport bold designs. Some of the exhibitors include BMW, Volkswagen, Lexus, and Jaguar.

Changing practices for the GST
Article Abstract:
The goods and service tax (GST) will require changes in Australian accounting practices. Two new accounts will need to be added to balance sheets called GST Received and GST Paid. Certain activities will not be subject to the tax and it will be important for all companies to maintain records for potential audits.
