The Texas bankruptcy experiment - is there life after Chapter 13?
Article Abstract:
The Texas Retail Credit Executives Group has set-up a credit re-establishment program in all offices of Texas trustees called the Texas Experiment. The Texas Experiment involves the participation of creditors that have agreed to grant credit to debtors upon their completion of Chapter 13 plans. This program is a breakthrough for Chapter 13 trustees, who have worked hard at trying to change the traditional bias creditors have in preferring Chapter 7 debtors over Chapter 13 debtors. At present 25 creditors have joined the Texas Experiment with increasing participation in other Texas cities. The main advatage of this program is that Chapter 13 debtors are given the chance to start anew and rewarded, after their efforts at trying to pay their debts. The program has also encouraged consumer debtors lawyers to recommend Chapter 13 to clients.

The International Credit Assn is hoping that the theme will entice students to analyze their knowledge of credit and correlate it with their goals in life.
