Voluntary recertification
Article Abstract:
The Society of Certified Credit Executives (SCCE) has recently begun to require recertification of new Society members as of April 1, 1989. Members seeking recertification will be required to: take continuing education classes, attend professional seminars or conferences; be actively involved in credit association leadership locally, regionally, or nationally; publish articles or teach; and be involved in Society committees. Each of these activities earns members points, which are then applied toward members' recertification. Recertification is not required for SCCE members accepted to the Society prior to April 1, 1989. However, it is recommended as a means of demonstrating continued enthusiasm for the profession and showing continued expertise.

ICA for the nineties
Article Abstract:
The International Credit Assn (ICA) must make adjustments to cope with global competition, large bank mergers, and other changes in the credit industry. ICA recognizes that it will take more members, more work and dedication, and increased funding to maintain its position as a leader in consumer education. To achieve this goal, the association has already started a major membership campaign, created a tax-exempt foundation to attract charitable contributions, and defined standards for credit certification programs. ICA is confident in its ability to deal with the challenges it faces.
