Introducing DOTUR, a computer program for defining operational taxonomic units and estimating species richness
Article Abstract:
A method has been developed to address the challenge of assigning sequences to operational taxonomic units (OTUs) based on the genetic distances between sequences. A computer program's, DOTUR, dexterity is demonstrated by analyzing and comparing 16S rRNA gene libraries constructed from soil and seawater, which have already been studied with other methods.

Selective phylogenetic analysis targeted at 16S rRNA genes of thermophiles and hyperthermophiles in deep-subsurface geothermal environments
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the efficient removal of 16S rRNA gene fragments from a mixture of 16S rRNA genes derived from a microbial community of mesophiles and thermophiles. It was observed that the 16S rRNA gene sequences from the river water were almost completely eliminated, whereas those from the hot spring fluid remained.
