A divergent INS protein in Caenorhabditis elegans structurally resembles human insulin and activates the human insulin receptor
Article Abstract:
A divergent INS protein in Caenorh abditis elegans has been found to be like human insulin structurally and to activate the human insulin receptor. The structure and receptor-binding properties of INS-6 a single-chain polypeptide expressed in specific neurons, are described. INS-6 lacks classical receptor-binding determinants but binds to and activates the human insulin receptor.

Induction of hypervascularity without leakage or inflammation in transgenic mice overexpressing hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha
Article Abstract:
Mice that express hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1alpha)(Delta)ODD developed a microvasculature with biology different from that described before for either vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) or angiopoietin-1 and -2. Hypervascularity induced by HIF-1alpha could improve tissue ischemia therapy.
