A genetic analysis of the relationship between life-history variation and heat-shock tolerance in Drosophila buzzatii
Article Abstract:
Cross-environment correlations in traits in larval and in adult Drosophila buzzatii exposed or not exposed to one heat-stress bout are discussed as they relate to evolutionary effects of stress to populations. All life-history traits varied significantly among isofemale lines, of which 100 were studied for survival in benign conditions, larval-development time, longevity and fecundity, and it can be seen that even small stress increases in the environment can have profound effects on evolutionary relationships of life-history traits.

Color polymorphism in Drosophila mediopunctata: Genetic (chromosomal) analysis and nonrandom association with chromosome inversions
Article Abstract:
A genetic (chromosomal) analysis of the variation of the number of abdominal spots in D. mediopunctata is presented. The results show that the idea that the factors or genes determining a conspicuous polymorphism are likely to be associated, forming a supergene and this association would be most efficiently accomplished through a chromosome inversion.
