A human genome map of comparative anchor tagged sequences
Article Abstract:
Anchored reference loci are required for effective comparative mapping inference using developing gene maps of animal species. Comparative anchor tagged sequences (CATS) are anchor loci, ordered in the mouse linkage map, but are not well represented in human linkage maps. An ordered framework map of 314 comparative anchor markers in humans is presented, based on mapping analysis in the Genebridge 4 area of radiation hybrid cell lines, together with empirically optimized CATS PCR primers, providing a framework for comparative gene mapping of representative mammalian species.

Development of comparative anchor tagged sequences (CATS) for canine genome mapping
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the development of comparative anchor tagged sequences for canine genome mapping using nine dog breeds and three wild canid species. Blood samples were collected from the canid samples, including border collie, Newfoundland, golden retriever and keeshond. The sequences were then amplified in 10 micron-l reactions. In addition, DNA was determined from the buffy coats of anticoagulated whole blood using conventional techniques.

A comparative approach to physical and linkage mapping of genes on canine chromosomes using gene-associated simple sequence repeat polymorphisms illustrated by studies of dog chromosome 9
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a comparative way to physical and linkage mapping of genes on dog chromosomes. Human or mouse cDNA for genes to be mapped were utilized to isolate cosmid or phage clones from dog genomic libraries. The approach supports gene-associated simple sequence repeat polymorphisms. Results indicated that maps created with the approach can be utilized to integrate anonymous microsatellites with gene maps.
