A marker set for construction of a genetic map of the silver fox (Vulpes vulpes)
Article Abstract:
The genomic organizations genomic organizations of the silver fox (Vulpes vulpes) and the dog (Canis familiaris) are compared. Several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are found when a sequence comparison of genes from tame and aggressive foxes is conducted. Canine genomic tools are utilized in developing a fox meiotic map and mapping behavioral traits in the fox due to a close relationship between the fox and dog.

Feline adult beta-globin polymorphism reflected in restriction fragment length patterns
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the molecular basis of feline adult beta-globin polymorphism reflected in restriction fragment length patterns. Southern blot analysis was carried out on the beta-globin gene region from 25 cats with 13 different high-performance liquid chromatography patterns. Results indicated an autosomal codominant mode of inheritance of the beta-globin chains with seven haplotypes.

Inheritance, Biochemical Abnormalities, and Clinical Features of Feline Mucolipidosis II: The First Animal Model of Human I-Cell Disease
Article Abstract:
A domestic shorthair cat population was used to develop an animal model for the human lysosomal storage disease Mucolipidosis II, or I-cell disease, to use in therapeutic intervention and pathogenesis research. Mode of inheritance, lysosomal enzyme activities, and radiographic and clinical features were found to be homologous with I-cell disease in humans.
