Aberrant cell cycle checkpoint function and early embryonic death in Chka (-/-) mice
Article Abstract:
Early embryonic death in Chka (-/-) mice and its connection to aberrant cell cycle checkpoint function are discussed. The physiological roles of Chk1 in regulating the mammalian cell cycle were studied. DNA replication block and DNA damage in mammals seemto stop the cell cycle only with Ckh1.

A nonproteolytic function of the proteasome is required for the dissociation of Cdc2 and cyclin B at the end of M phase
Article Abstract:
A required nonproteolytic proteasome function for the dissociation of Cdc2 and cyclin B at the end of M phase has been found to exist in Xenopus egg extracts. The 20S proteasome could not dissociate the two subunits, but the 26S proteasome could.

ATM-dependent phosphorylation of Mdm2 on serine 395: role in p53 activation by DNA damage
Article Abstract:
ATM-dependent phosphorylation of Mdm2 on serine 395 and its role in p53 activation by DNA damage are discussed. Microinjection of the 2A10 antibody raises the steady state levels of endogenous wild-type p53. Based on mutational analysis, it seems Mdm2 undergoes Data suggest that phosphorylated Mdm2 may be less able to promote the nucleocytoplasmic shuttling of p53 and its degradation thereafter, enabling p53 accumulation.
