A test of the hypothesis of an autopolyploid vs. allopolyploid origin for a tetraploid lineage: application to the genus Barbus (Cyprinidae)
Article Abstract:
A method for determining the origin of polyploid lineages has been developed and it includes testing whether a tetraploid lineage came through autopolyploidization or allopolyploidization. The test has been carried out to evaluate the hypothesis of an autopolyploid origin for a tetraploid lineage for the genus Barbus (Cyprinidae). The method depends on the hypothesis that for autopolyploidy any genetic marker in the first tetraploid ancestor is represented by two copies but in allopolyploidy some markers not found in one of the hybridizing species will show one copy at most.

Autosomal differences between males and females in hybrid zones: A first report from Barbus barbus and Barbus meridionalis (Cyprinidae)
Article Abstract:
A genetic analysis of male and females in six samples from two central stations of the hybrid zone of Barbus barbus and Barbus meridionalis is carried out using codominant markers (six allozymes and four microsatellite loci). Significant multilocus and monolocus differences between the sexes are revealed and this reflects a genetic difference among sexes within a same cohort, caused either by a survival differential among sexes or by a sex-specific pattern of dispersal.

Genetic variability in sculpin (genus Cottus) from southern France, with reference to the taxonomic status of an endemic species, C. petiti
Article Abstract:
Genetic variability analysis of 7 populations of sculpin show a within-population variation in the French sculpins and confirms that Cottus gobio L. is the common sculpin. Data also indicate that C. petiti is differentiated from other sculpins not on the genetic basis but by morphological and ecological considerations.
