Methods of analysis and resources available for genetic trait mapping
Article Abstract:
There are several ways of carrying out genetic trait mapping. These methods determine the genetic distance between two loci on chromosome. Genetic markers are utilized to localize disease genes by linkage analysis. A critical component of a genetic marker is its heterozygosity that determines the proportion of individuals in a population who are heterozygous for that marker. A number of institutions offer free programs on genetic linkage analysis. In addition, there are also several books and Web sites on the subject.

A marker set for construction of a genetic map of the silver fox (Vulpes vulpes)
Article Abstract:
The genomic organizations of the silver fox (Vulpes vulpes) and the dog (Canis familiaris) are compared. Several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are found when a sequence comparison of genes from tame and aggressive foxes is conducted. Canine genomic tools are utilized in developing a fox meiotic map and mapping behavioral traits in the fox due to a close relationship between the fox and dog.
