Altered regulation of 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol production in Fusarium graminearum
Article Abstract:
Regulation of 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol production in Fusarium graminearum is discussed. Reporter genes were introduced into F. graminearum to develop strains with greater levels of trichothecene production under liquid shake culture conditions. Both genes used changed trichothecene production levels. Effects seem to be dependent on whether plasmid integration occurred within the trichothecene pathway gene cluster.

Tri6 encodes an unusual zinc finger protein involved in regulation of trichothecene biosynthesis in Fusarium sporotrichioides
Article Abstract:
The gene Tri6 isolated from the gene cluster in Fusarium sporotrichioides produces a DNA-binding protein that contains a Cys2His2 zinc motif and controls the biosynthesis of the trichothecene mycotoxin T-2. Tri6 produces a DNA-binding protein that contains a Cys2His2 zinc motif. If Tri6 is bound to a DNA binding domain it activates transcription and in cells possessing the mutated Tri6 other genes and enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of trichothecene are affected. This shows that Tri6 is a transcriptional factor.

Accumulation of Trichothecenes in liquid cultures of a Fusarium sporotrichioides mutant lacking a functional trichothecene C-15 hydroxylase
Article Abstract:
The trichothecene metabolites of Fusarium sporotrichoides Tri11 mutant, NRRL3299, were analyzed to determine the role of the Tri11 gene in the biosynthesis of the T-2 toxin. Analysis of the trichothecene profile from NRRL3299 indicated the presence of 8-hydroxylated trichothecenes that were not part of the T-2 toxin biosynthetic pathway. Furthermore, the oxygenation at the C-15 carbon was blocked in NRRL3299 due to a mutated Tri11 gene.
