Seventy-three nuclear DNA polymorphisms in a Spanish population and a comparison with ten other populations
Article Abstract:
This article examines genetic polymorphisms in members of a geographically and culturally isolated Spanish community in the south eastern region of the Iberian Peninsula. Genetic markers were compared to ten other human populations and were found to have a close relationship with genetic profiles found in a Moroccan community.

An unexpected wide population variation of the G1733A polymorphism of the androgen receptor gene: Data on the Mediterranean region
Article Abstract:
The androgen receptor (AR) is proposed as a candidate gene for several cancers and ethnicity is considered an associated risk factor for some of these cancers. The A allele of the G1733A polymorphism of the AR gene is associated with increased risk of prostate cancer and epidemiological studies have suggested that environmental factors play an important role in the development of several cancers.

Genetic relationships between southeastern Spain and Morocco: new data on ABO, RH, MNSs, and DUFFY polymorphisms
Article Abstract:
No particular genetic affinity was found between population samples from south-central Morocco and southeastern Spain in a study of genetic polymorphisms of four blood group systems (ABO, RH, MNSs, and DUFFY). In addition, the Moroccan samples were unlike other North Africans.
