Identification of genes in Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii whose products are homologues to a family of ATP-binding proteins
Article Abstract:
Nucleotide sequences of prsD, prsE (protein secretion) and orf3 from Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. trifolii TA1 were presented. The three genes were identified adjacent to the exo 133 mutation in a cosmid carrying the genomic DNA of the Rhizobium. PrsD and prsE were found homologous to the ATP-binding proteins, while orf3, which has a typical terminal sequence, was not homologous to these proteins.

A new nos gene downstream from nosDFY is essential for dissimilatory reduction of nitrous oxide by Rhizobium (Sinorhizobium) meliloti
Article Abstract:
Research has established that the nitrogen-fixing bacteria Rhizobium (Sinorhizobium) meliloti contains seven genes in a nosRZDFY gene cluster. The cluster occurs on a 10.1 kb piece of EcoRI megaplasmid in a similar proximity to the fixGHIS genes. It takes up around 9 kb and consists of four complementation gene groups. The Hindlll-EcoRl downstream fragment is vital for nitrous oxide reduction.
