Nucleotide sequence of the mxcQ and mxcE genes, required for methanol dehydrogenase synthesis in Methylobacterium organophilum XX: a two-component regulatory system
Article Abstract:
The mxcQ and mxcE loci of Methylobacterium organophilum XX contain two open reading frames and their amino acid sequences are similar to the MxaY and MxaX proteins of the methylotrophic bacteria Paracoccus dentrificans. Cells of Methylobacterium organophilum XX grown on methanol or succinate produce proteins which bind to mxaF, the gene encoding the large subunit of methanol dehyrogenase. However, cells containing mutations in mxcQ or mxcE loci do not form proteins that bind to mxaF. The amino acid sequence of mxcQ and mxcE loci is given.

The localization of KpsC, S and T, and KfiA, C and D proteins involved in the biosynthesis of the Escherichia coli K5 capsular polysaccharide: Evidence for a membrane-bound complex
Article Abstract:
Escherichia coli K5 polysaccharide biosynthesis requires the proteins KfiA, KfiB, KfiC and KfiD. KfiA and KfiC and KpsC, KpsS and KpsT proteins were purified together and the generated polyclonal antisera were used in Western blot analysis to locate corresponding proteins. KfiA, KfiC and KfiD were linked to the inner membrane. Mutation effects in individual kps genes were determined.
