Biochemical and molecular characterization of the insecticidal fragment of cryV
Article Abstract:
The biochemical and molecular characterization of the insecticidal fragment of cryV for the larvae of a major lepidopteran pest, Ostrinia nubialis, were studied. The research utilized biochemical analyses and truncations of the cryV gene to characterize the minimum toxic fragment of the cryV protein. Results reveal that treatment of cryV with trypsin and protease led in the generation of a protease-resistant core through an intermediary form.

Unique regulation of crystal protein production in Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. yunnanensis is mediated by the cry protein-encoding 103-megadalton plasmid
Article Abstract:
The regulation of crystal protein production in Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. yunnanensis mediated by the cry protein-encoding 103-magagdalton plasmid was examined to prove that B. thuringiensis' crystal proteins has the ability to form crystals exclusively on asporogenous recipient cells. Results reveal that the crystal production in B. thurgiensis subsp. yunnanensis is not common in the stationary-phase cultures of this strain.

Cry9Ca1 toxin, a Bacillus thuringiensis insecticidal crystal protein with high activity against the spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana)
Article Abstract:
The insecticidal crystal protein Cry9Ca1 from Bacillus thuringiensis was found to be highly toxic to the spruce budworm Choristoneura fumiferana. It was more toxic than such toxins as Cry1Ba1, Cry1Ab6, Cry1Ca2, Cry1Da1, Cry1Ea1 and Cry1Fa2. The protein also acts against silkworm Bombyx mori and is highly recommended for the resistance management and control of the spruce budworm.
