Bromoalkane-degrading Pseudomonas strains
Article Abstract:
The isolation and characterization of two Pseudomonas strains capable of degrading a wide range of bromoalkanes were reported. The emulsification and dehalogenation of water-insoluble haloalkanes by these strains were also described. Utilization of 1-bromooctane appears to be a three-step process: (i) substrate emulsification by a surface-active compound, (ii) dehalogenation by an inducible dehalogenase and (iii) intracellular degradation.

Prey range characterizarion, ribotyping, and diversity of soil and rhizosphere Bdellovibrio spp. isolated on phytopathogenic bacteria
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on the new Bdellovibrio strains. The isolation results of these strains from the agricultural soil and from the rhizosphere of plants that grow on that soil are discussed.
