Article Abstract:
A transcriptional coactivator called CIITA has been found to be recruited to major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II promoters by synergistic interactions with an enhanceosome complex. It has been shown for the first time that CIITA is associated in vivo physically with MHC-II as well as Ii, HLA-DM, MHC-1 and beta(sub.2)m promoters. A pull-down assay using immobilized promoter templates and a DNA-dependent coimmunoprecipitation assay have been developed.

Article Abstract:
RNA interference and the advances of the study of RNAi in the most recent year are discussed in this review article. The process was discovered a few years ago and it has since become clear that it is an ancient one. Practical applications of new knowledge have made rapid surveys of gene functions possibly and may lead to new therapeutic interventions. RNAi is the oldest and most widely found antiviral system. It came into being before plant-animal divergence. Cosuppression controls the expression of repetitive sequences and transposable elements. Likely multiple RDE-1 family members are involved in RNAi. perhaps in different tissues and redundantly. RNAi may share some processes with regulation of development. Drosophila and Caenorhabditis elegans findings are referenced. The let-7 RNA is conserved in humans and in those species.

Research has been conducted on Drosophila Polycomb protein's chromodomain. The structure of this chromodomain has been investigated, and the results reveal a conserved mode of methyl-lysine binding and Polycomb-specific interactions with histone H3.
