C.elegans HIM-17 links chromatin modification and competence for initiation of meiotic recombination
Article Abstract:
The connection between chromatin modification and competence for DSB formation is strengthened through identification of chromatin associated protein HIM-17, which provides a link between these processes during meiotic prophase in C. elegans. Results show that the chromatin-associated protein HIM-17 plays a role both in the acquisition of competence for initiation of meiotic recombination by the SPO-11 enzyme and in promoting proper accumulation of the H3MeK9 modification during meiotic prophase progression.

Around the world of DNA damage INO80 days
Article Abstract:
Studies were conducted to know more about chromosome loss, which leads to loss of tumor suppressor genes that cause cancer cells. Interesting findings were reported about how histone modification, remodeling as well as replacement are coordinated to help repair undamaged chromatin, and it is hoped that INO80 days will help scientists know more about this condition.

The NoCut pathway links completion of cytokinesis to spindle midzone function to prevent chromosome breakage
Article Abstract:
NoCut, a signalling pathway delays the completion of cytokinesis in cells with spindle-midzone defects. It is proposed that NoCut monitors clearance of chromatin from midzone to ensure that cytokinesis completes only after all chromosomes have migrated to the poles.
