Heterochromatin regulates cell type-specific long-range chromatin interactions essential for directed recombination
Article Abstract:
A recombination-promoting complex (RPC) containing Swi2 and Swi5 proteins exhibits a cell type-specific localization pattern at the silent mating-type region and this differential localization modulates donor preference during mating-type switching. Analyses implicate heterochromatin in long-range regulatory interaction and suggest that heterochromatin imposes a structural organization at the mating-type region that is important for the donor-choice mechanism.

The TAFs in the HAT
Article Abstract:
The transcriptional roles of ten associated factors (TAFs) and their corresponding biochemical influence within the context of the multiprotein complex TFIID were reviewed. TAFs play a major role in core promoter functions as well as enhancing the level of transcription derived from TATA containing promoters. In addition, previous studies have uncovered TAFs' function in the SAGA complex.
