Cell mechanics and stress: From molecular details to the 'universal cell reaction' and hormesis
Article Abstract:
The relation between the universal cell reaction (UCR) and the phenomenon of hormesis is discussed. Hormesis is a dose-response phenomenon characterized by stimulatory responses and denotes a class of biphasic responses to external stimuli just like UCR, suggesting that both UCR and hormesis are different manifestations of the same intracellular processes.

Rho GTPase expression in tumourigenesis: Evidence for a significant link
Article Abstract:
Rho proteins belong to the small GTPases superfamily, which function as molecular switches that in response to diverse stimuli, control key signaling and structural aspects of the cell. A study reviewing the existing evidence of dysregulation of Rho signaling by overexpression in human tumors is presented.

Carbon monoxide in biology and medicine
Article Abstract:
Carbon monoxide (CO), a product of organic oxidation processes, arises in vivo during cellular metabolism, most notably heme degradation. The biological significance and medical applications of this gas molecule are discussed.
