microRNA-directed phasing during trans-acting siRNA biogenesis in plants
Article Abstract:
A study is carried out on small RNAs (microRNAs[miRNAs] and siRNAs) that are used by plants and animals as a guide for posttranscriptional and epigenetic regulation. The data obtained from the study supports a model in which miRNA-guided formation of a 5' or 3' terminus within pre-ta-siRNA transcripts yields phased trans-acting-siRNAs that negatively regulate other genes.

A two-hit trigger for siRNA biogenesis in plants
Article Abstract:
A high-throughput DNA sequencing is adapted to the discovery of endogenous small RNAs from the moss Physcomitrella patens and Arabidopsis. The results have indicated that dual miRNA complementary sites are a trigger for siRNA biogenesis that is conserved for the past 400 million years and have provided insights into the recognition and silencing of aberrant RNAs.

Ribosome biogenesis: Giant steps for a giant problem
Article Abstract:
The rapamycin-sensitive TOR signaling network that controls ribosomal protein gene expression through the Forkhead-like transcription factor is discussed. Findings show a crucial advance in understanding which TOR regulates ribosome biogenesis according to environmental changes.
