Changes in developmental state: demolish the old to construct the new
Article Abstract:
The authors review publications on epigenetically determined patterns of gene expression. The topics include the relationship between transcriptional regulators of mating type of ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation pathway, and the importance of proteolysis for erroneous subsequent transcriptional state prevention and for gene expression program ending.

Functional interactions between the transcription and mRNA 3' end processing machineries mediated by Ssu72 and Sub1
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on phylogenetically conserved transcription factor Ssu72. The authors report that via the use of genetic, biochemical and molecular methods they have discovered that this transcription factor is a component of Saccharomyces cerevisiae polyadenylation and cleavage factor, and that it is required for 3' end cleavage of pre-mRNA.

Phage N4 RNA polymerase II recruitment to DNA by a single-stranded DNA-binding protein
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on bacteriophage N4-coded protein p17. The characterization of this protein have demonstrated that it is a single-stratded DNA-binding protein activating N4 heterodimeric RNA polymerase transcription on single-stranded DNA templates via interaction with phage-coded N4 heterodimeric RNA polymerase.
