Chloroethene biodegradation in sediments at 4 degree Celsius
Article Abstract:
Microbial reductive dechlorination of [1,2-(super 14)C] tricholoroethene to [(super 14)C]cis-dicholoroethene and [(super 14)C]vinyl chloride was observed at 4 degree Celsius in anoxic microcosms prepared with cold temperature-adapted aquifer and river sediments from Alaska. Microbial anerobic oxidation of [1,2-(super 14)C]cis-dicholoroethene and [1,2-(super 14)C]vinyl chloride to (super 14)CO(sub 2) was observed under these conditions.

Benzoate catabolite repression of the phthalate degradation pathway in Rhodococcus sp. strain DK17
Article Abstract:
Rhodococcus sp. strain DK17 which exhibits a catabolite repression-like response when provided simultaneously with benzoate and phthalate as carbon and energy sources is reported. The two mutant strains with defective benzoate dioxygenases were unable to utilize phthalate in the presence of benzoate although they grew normally on phthalate in the absence of benzoate.

Aerobic removal of technetium by a marine Halomonas strain
Article Abstract:
The Tc-202, identified as a Halomonas sp., has the ability to remove Tc from solutions over a broad pH range under aerobic conditions. The removal ability of Tc-202 is less than those of microorganisms previously described.
