Circannual control of hibernation by HP complex in the brain
Article Abstract:
The level of hibernation-specific protein (HP) complex in the brain increases coincident with the onset of hibernation and HP regulation proceeds independently of body temperature (Tb) changes in constant warmth and Tb decreases only when brain HP is increased in the cold. Blocking brain HP activity using an antibody decreases the duration of hibernation and it is suggested that HP, a target of endogenously generated circannual rhythm, carries hormonal signals essential for hibernation to the brain.

Knocking down disease with siRNAs
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the opportunities for exploiting RNA interference for therapy and to understand the obstacles that might present and different ways to evade them are presented. Small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) can be used for treating a variety of diseases, but studies show that too high concentrations of siRNAs may be less effective than lower concentrations.
