Cloning and sequencing of a poly(DL-lactic acid) depolymerase gene from Paenibacillus amylolyticus strain TB-13 and its functional expression in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on gene encoding poly(DL-lactic acid) depolymerase from Paenibacillus amylolyticus strain TB-13. The authors report the cloning and overexpression of this gene, and demonstrate that purified recombinant poly(DL-lactic acid) depolymerase tends to degrade different biodegradable polyesters.

High level production of porphyrins in metabolically engineered Escherichia coli: systematic extension of a pathway assembled from overexpressed genes involved in heme biosynthesis
Article Abstract:
The authors have investigated the overproduction of Escherichia coli porphyrins and porphyrinogens. They report that this overproduction has been caused by the extention of heme biosynthetic pathway consisting of genes obtained from different microorganisms.
