Collectins: Sentinels of innate immunity
Article Abstract:
The properties of collectins, the lectins present in plasma and on mucosal surfaces that act as the humoral molecules of the innate immune system are studied. Collectins are found to highly affect the modulation of inflammatory and allergic responses, as well as apoptotic cell clearance, which in turn help to limit the infection and modulate the adaptive immune responses.

Evolution of early development of the nervous system: A comparison between arthropods
Article Abstract:
The events that generate cell diversity early development of the ventral nerve cord of different arthropod groups are discussed. Observations suggest that small cell number and possibly rapid development might be associated with the evolution of stereotyped neuroblast lineages.

Segments and parasegments in arthropoda: A functional perspective
Article Abstract:
The process of parasegmental and segmental frames being used in constructing the body plan of the arthropods is reviewed. The frame shift is reflected in the sensory and motor nerve connections between the ganglia and the periphery.
